Jealous Rooftop Mural Project

"Beauty is a universal language and Islamic geometry is based on the notion of beauty. It’s filled with various shapes and patterns. The primary function of these patterns is to lead the mind from the mundane world and help the believer to reflect on life and the greatness of creation".

I was invited onto the roof of Jealous Studio to paint a mural against the Shoreditch skyline, using the inspiration of Islamic geometry.

In partnership with Jealous Studio, I will be releasing the following print inspired by my mural:

Beauty is a Universal Language

Medium: Somerset satin white 410gsm paper

Edges: Deckled

Year: 2020

Edition: 75

Size: 53.30cm (w) x 53.30cm (h)

You can order 'Beauty is a Universal Language' at a special preorder price for a limited time.

In these strange times, I pray that you and your family are safe. The cultural and creative sectors are among the most affected by the current crisis.

As an artist, I believe I have a social responsibility to bring people together.

Even when art centers are closed, the demand for art is stronger than ever. Since the pandemic hit, visits to online galleries have skyrocketed, with people seemingly seeking solace in art and creativity. There’s been this hunger since we’ve all been locked down.

Parents and their children are also making artwork full of positivity and hope. Art gives us access to a world that’s bigger than us – That sense of hope is so important.

The arts are a positive force for our community, especially in turbulent times.

With a possible vaccine on the horizon, I look forward to working with you all in this new era of shared adversity and hope.

Peace and blessings!

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is well.

I haven't been on DeviantArt for almost a year. I have been creating artwork but I uploading it to different social media website. I am trying to reach a larger market.

On that note, come and hook up with me on there - Follow me on Instagram. If I can find you then I will add you too!

I also updated my website - I wasn't happy with the other one as it was looking a bit old. Come in and take a tour, there is plenty to see. Check it out: www.teakster.co.uk

I guess most of the people that I knew on this website have grown up and moved on to other things. I guess that is life.

However, if you are part of the old guard and you are still here then give me a shout!

Peace and blessings!

Welcome to the new normal

This year, every one of us experienced a portion of difficulty and struggle. The current crisis greatly affected those working in the cultural and creative sectors. In these dark times, we need to look for the light to seek a place of inner gratitude and awareness of our countless blessings. As we all come to terms with the new normal, we MUST learn and grow.

As we begin to look towards 2021 and prepare for the challenges that lay ahead, it is important that we recognise the significance of this year and the impact it has had on our lives, both personally and professionally. Even though this year was tough for me, I wanted to express sincere thanks to my supporters who helped me through this dire year.

Even though this was a negative year, I wish you all a beautiful end to the year. In this new era of shared adversity and hope, I look forward to a fresh 2021!

I will try to give out more freebies during this festive month!

However...I know some of my watchers are wondering what Ramadan is, so I going to explain it to them.

Don't worry, I'm not going to brainwash you all. I know many people aren't religious but this is my belief and I don't ask you to believe the same, but I believe it is important to understand the different cultures and beliefs of other people.

Ignorance will only lead to more ignorance. It's not until we learn from each that we can understand each other. As it is normal for humans to fear things from a lack of understanding.

So this will be a quick explanation for those who have never heard of it.

Ramadan is the month in which all the eligible Muslims are encouraged to fast from food, drink, abusive language and indulging in anything that is in excess or ill-natured.

Eligible means men and women who are over the age of about 7, are not sick, or travelling, or in women's instance have their menstrual cycle or in some cases breastfeeding.

Fasting is meant to teach the Muslim patience, modesty and spirituality. We try to purify ourselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

Among the other benefits is that we can understand the hardships of poor people, we shed extra weight, and clean out the system of pollutants.

One thing I really like about Ramadan is the entire atmosphere around it.  It's a time of solidarity and sharing food, especially when we break our fasts. We visit each other more often and go to the mosque to pray for many hours.

We are told that fasting is the highest form of worship since only God really knows if you are being true to it or not. You can fool other people or cheat, but then you are only starving yourself. It's only if you're honest and really try, you reap tremendous rewards. When you see different kinds of people, from different backgrounds, races, ages, and all of them fasting worldwide, you can't help but feel a brotherhood. Since we are all doing it together.

So to one and all, I wish you a Blessed Ramadan and even encourage non-Muslims to try fasting and see how it's like, its a great way to break addictions and bad habits.

Well…thank you for reading this and I hope that has been useful.
